So the first topic is romanticism, which I have dealt with quite often because it just so happens to be my favorite style of writing and I write a lot in that style. (duh, it's my favorite)
Romanticism first originated in the second half of the eighteenth century. It was strengthened more by the industrial revolution. Romanticism mostly deals with the theme of true love, knights in shining armor, and other stuff like that. It is highly fictionalized. One genre that stems from this is the Gothic Romance, which is what Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is, a gothic romance. Another of example of the style of romanticism is Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes.
Now on to the style of realism, possibly the worst style of writing... at least in my view. I only think it is horrible because all of the books I have read in this style of writing have to do with war, and they are NOT made to make you feel good about yourself. Realism is the style in which the writer writes in the way the world really is, they do not embellish, they do not make it heart warming. They seem to make it cold and dry, and most of these books are very sad, which is NOT MY THING!! The only book I have read that was written with realism is The Red Badge of Courage. I read it in a day, and it's probably the worst book I've ever read besides the Twilight Series.
On to the next style! *waves to next slide* Naturalism. I have not dabbled much in this style but it has to do with science and nature and stuff that I am not intelligent enough to explain to you. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley also fits into this category!
I hope I was able to enlighten you all a bit on a few different styles of writing. My attention span is fading very quickly for some reason tonight.
For now, I bid you all adieu for I shall see you with my next blog post!
