I usually do not read old stories that I write. Why? I will tell you why, because they are embarrassing! The stories I write reflect my views at the time I write them and sometimes they are downright awful. That is not exactly the case with the book I just wrote for National Novel Writing Month, but it still isn't the work I'm most proud of.
About an hour ago I decided that I was going to be adventurous, and I was going to start editing my novel. Boy was I stupid! I started reading the first chapter and all the while I was thinking,"What the fudge is this? What was I ON?!" That is some of the most romantic crap that I have ever written, not in the lovey dovey sense, but in the style. Ever heard of romanticism? Even if you do I will tell you in my next post anyway about the different styles of writing, just for fun! Yeah... so I was reading over it and I almost threw up, that's how awful it was. It's some of my best writing but the way I wrote it was just really bad. I had to clean a lot of the scene up so things actually made sense. I have a tendency to write very choppily and I confuse even myself sometimes.
So yeah... today I started editing, it was a mistake on my part clearly, and I don't have enough attention span to finish this blog post... goodbye.
